In the early hours of November 11th, 2028, a young man named James River was found dead in the backyard of his home after a neighbor called 911 complaining of a howling dog. River was said to be working on a film titled ‘The Picture.’

To finish the film, James recruited a rag tag group of friends, most of whom had no acting experience, to complete his lineup of four main characters: The Writer, The Editor, The Critic, and The Reader.

At the time of James’s death, the film was unfinished, halfway edited by Lukas Curry before he too was killed. Police recovered a hard drive at the scene of the crime containing footage from the film, as well an archive of old home movies.

When police searched James’s home, they found piles of self-labeled books and clothing, a letter James wrote to his recently deceased (ex) girlfriend, as well as the shooting script for The Picture.

The public’s curiosity turned into a witch hunt, making Emma Noll (The Reader) the prime suspect in the case. Fake tarot readings meant for James’s movie leaked online, and the community quickly pointed their collective fingers at the young woman, influencing a local judge to hand Ms. Noll a death sentence. In this documentary, she tells her side of the story.
